Moore Benefits from UK Trade Agreement

MOORE BENEFITS FROM AUSTRALIA-UK TRADE AGREEMENT

Mr Goodenough said today that businesses, workers and consumers in Moore would benefit from the Australia-UK free trade agreement.

“Trade creates jobs and opportunities for Australian businesses and gives us access to international products,” Mr Goodenough said.

“The Australian Government has reached an agreement in principle with the United Kingdom Government on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

“The FTA will eliminate tariffs on the products traded between our two nations and make it easier for Australians to work and do business in the UK.

“Australian farmers and wine producers will get greater access to UK customers, which is good news for job creation and the economy.

“Young Australians who want to live and work in the UK will now be allowed to stay for three years and will have to the age of 35 to take up the opportunity.

“Lovers of English cheese, biscuits and Scotch whisky in Moore will get access to tariff-free British products under the FTA.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said UK FTA would be the most comprehensive and liberal agreement Australia had signed, outside of our partnership with New Zealand.

“Australia is now working with the UK to finalise this gold-standard FTA,” Mr Tehan said. “There is still much work to do, on what is a complex legal document, but this agreement is a win for jobs, businesses, free trade and highlights what two liberal democracies can achieve while working together.”
