As a member of the Joondalup Health Campus Community Board of Advice, Ian is closely briefed on the current expansion of the Joondalup hospital, and will continue to be a strong advocate for further Federal funding for health care to meet our community’s health needs.
A longstanding member of the Joondalup Business Association for more than a decade, Ian understands that a reduction in red tape and lower taxation will provide the environment for businesses to prosper. A strong economy will provide a higher standard of living for our community, and enable the Government to deliver much needed facilities and services. Ian supports continued expansion of the Joondalup CBD to attract a range of new services and amenities making the area more vibrant and liveable.
Ocean Reef Marina
Redevelopment of the Ocean Reef Marina to create the third marina in the electorate promoting a coastal lifestyle for families, choice of dining venues, tourism ventures, and local employment.
Ian will advocate for priority Broadband upgrades for older suburbs in the electorate in the short to medium term and a support for for the Federal Government’s cost effective NBN programme.
Neerabup Industrial Area
Local employment self-sufficiency is one of Ian’s priorities – our freeways and roads are being clogged with commuter traffic. More local jobs are needed. During his tenure in local government Ian has strongly advocated for development of the Neerabup Industrial Area within the electorate and has lobbied Federal MPs to progress a project forecast to create 20,000 new jobs. Current delays are caused by two layers of bureaucracy with both State and Federal approvals processes.
R&D and Edith Curtin University
A strong supporter of Joondalup’s Higher Education Precinct, Ian will work towards increased Federal funding for Edith Cowan University and surrounding tertiary education institutions to promote research and development and address the skills shortage faced by industry. Ian passionately believes in supporting the commercialisation of Australian inventions and technology within Australia to minimise the costly exodus of Australian innovation overseas.
